depression, psychology

I've had depression for half of my life now of course this has been on and off. I've been waiting for psychology for 4 months now, Sheffield area. How long have other people had to wait? I've not been to psychology before but I did have 2 lots of counselling from the doctors and they were six week each. Will psychology be the same as counselling but longer? The waiting is hard but my cpn thinks that this is the best move for me so hopefully this is the one that makes the big difference.
