I have suffered with emetophobia for as long as i can remember there are a few moments i believe it made it worse but I don't know what started it and at one point I was scared to leave my house in case i came across somebody that was unwell. I don't like travelling with others (especially my children as they get travel sick) and i avoid social situations that involve alcohol. I have been to CBT which didn't seem to work for me (not saying it wouldn't work for someone else) and i was unable to finish the course as i had an operation and was bed bound for 6 weeks- I never went back.
When I'm not in a state of panic I don't understand why i find it so scary? When someone asks me which part scares me I just don't know. I also have a form of eating disorder which makes even less sense with my massive fear of sickness.
I've been told its a common fear but I always seem to get an odd glance when i mention it to people and the occasional joke.
Does anybody else suffer with Emetophobia? x
